Two new papers were recently published related to our work at the Arid Hydrology Research Area (AHRA) (https://www.sscafca.org/education-outreach/ahra/):
1. A discussion (https://ascelibrary.org/doi/10.1061/JHYEFF.HEENG-6295) of our earlier paper on infiltration model parameters for sandy soils (https://ascelibrary.org/doi/10.1061/JHYEFF.HEENG-6025) based on rainfall simulator tests conducted at AHRA. The discussion raises some interesting points and lists other studies from New Mexico conducted in the 1980s and 1990s using rainfall simulation.
2. Our response (https://ascelibrary.org/doi/10.1061/JHYEFF.HEENG-6312), where we address the questions raised and compare our findings to previous work.
Our goal is to develop tools for predicting runoff and managing stormwater in dryland watershed that are useful to practicing engineers and hydrologists. The recent papers demonstrate interest in our work by the larger scientific community. We are grateful for this and hope that our findings will be useful to practitioners beyond SSCAFCA’s boundaries.
